Glenn Kirschner founded HFA after 30 years as a prosecutor, handling primarily homicides. He served as Deputy Chief/Chief of the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office Homicide Division, overseeing all murder prosecutions in Washington DC for a decade. Offering support to families of homicide victims, walking them through the process and ensuring their voices were heard became a central part of his mission as a prosecutor. However in his experience, supporting homicide families often seemed to take a back seat to managing the heavy caseloads and many other priorities and rigors of investigating and prosecuting murder cases.
Homicide Family Advocates exists to begin to fill the chasm between the information provided to homicide families and the advocacy, support and interfacing with the criminal justice system that they deserve.
